Specific Drug Treatments for Specific Drugs
Sept. 29, 2009

The different drugs of abuse can have varying affects on an individuals mind and body. When an addiction has developed from these drugs, each individual can be struggling from different problems. At Channah Thailand, we focus on individual drug treatment for each client and take these differences into account. Treatment for a cocaine addiction, a stimulant, can require different treatment than someone who is abusing a depressant. We personalize treatment for each client in our drug rehab program.

Abuse of prescription medications have always been a concern, however it seems to be a growing problem in today's society. The abuse of prescription drugs are at an all time high. Some of the drugs meant to help have serious side effects including the possibility for abuse and addition. With long term use the body can develop a dependency to many of these drugs. These drugs are affecting people who are not looking to abuse drugs, just as an answer to a health problem.

Individuals are seeing the need for drug treatment for prescription pills. At Channah Thailand, we provide them with a caring environment and a personalized drug rehab program. This program is intended to provide the most personal care. Whether it is a problem with illicit drugs like cocaine or heroin, or a prescription drugs like oxycodone or benzodiazepines, our focus is a specific drug treatment to meet the needs of each individual.

World Class Alcohol Rehabilitation
Sept. 26, 2009

Channah Thailand runs a world class drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre unlike anything available in the world when you compare the quality of treatment, accommodation, extra services involved, dedicated staff, etc. No centre in the world that we know of can offer everything that we do for even close to the low fees we manage to charge.

Channah has some of the best experts in the field working at the centre and offers a minimum of 3 one to one sessions per week for each client. Add to this, daily group therapy sessions, relapse awareness and prevention, personal trainer, exercise programmes, Body Renew©, hospital medical checks, psychiatric assessments (when deemed necessary), massage, pool work outs, spa treatments, excursions, etc. and you start to understand just how full and intensive this programme really is. Everything we do at the centre has therapeutic value, even a trip to the Erawan Waterfalls has benefits such as, helping people socialize and enjoy themselves without the need for drugs or alcohol.

At Channah's drug and alcohol rehabilitation programme we believe in treating the whole person not just their addiction.

Rehab For Your Loved One
Sept. 23, 2009

When one of your loved ones need to go to a drug and alcohol rehab centre you will have many questions. How do you help them? Will they be the same person when they return? Do they really need it? Will they stop doing drugs or alcohol for good? The list goes on.

To answer a few of your questions, you can help them in many ways, encouragement, that they are doing the right thing. Assistance, that you will look after their affairs while they are gone, possibly financially in some cases.

Most people that come to Channah are very successful individuals that manage the majority of their lives quite well but need help in one area. We at Channah are not trying to change the whole person just one small aspect of their behavior. We do this by helping them understand why they are abusing drugs or alcohol in the first place, teaching them better coping techniques for dealing with the issues in their lives that they are turning to drugs or alcohol for, and in some cases helping them put a life plan together to possibly eliminate the reasons they feel they need to use drugs or alcohol. Each person is different and will need a tailored plan to cope with their personal issues.

At Channah we will work with your loved one in a caring supportive environment and develop a rehab programme for their specific life issues. If you are thinking of sending your family member to a drug rehab programme feel free to call our experts at Channah with any questions you have.

Personalized Care in Addition Treatment
Sept. 20, 2009

A rehabilitation programme should be as individual as the person attending. At Channah we will design an addiction treatment programme to suit your needs not make you fit into a pre-existing inflexible model. Addiction is a very personal matter and you will have unique reasons for using drugs or alcohol to excess in the first place, these issues are going to need to be addressed for your recovery to be successful. Some aspects of the programme are fixed, however with a minimum of 3 one to one sessions a week with a therapist we can be as flexible as you require. When you are thinking of attending a drug or alcohol rehabilitation programme think about Channah for an individual rehab programme that will fit your needs.

Getting Help in Your Time of Need
Sept. 18, 2009

When you have finally made up your mind to stop using drugs or alcohol it is not the time to strike out on your own. Drug or alcohol addiction can be fatal and you need all the help you can get. Many government drug rehabilitation centers have 6 month waiting lists or longer, others won’t take you unless you have been clean or sober for a certain amount of time. When someone finally comes to the realization that they need to stop their substance abuse they need help NOW. It is not the time to tell them they will be put on a waiting list. Channah Thailand rarely has a waiting list and when we do it is usually only a week or two until we can get you in. Also where it is preferable you show up clean and sober it is not mandatory, and we are not going to send you on your way because of it.

Prescription Drug Abuse
Sept. 17, 2009

Prescription drug abuse or illegal drug abuse make very little difference as far as addiction is concerned. However there is less likelihood of being charged with a criminal offence unless you are using up your prescription then buying more on the street. Many legal drugs with a prescription are illegal as soon as you purchase them from a dealer. As far as the person struggling with prescription drug abuse is concerned though the effects on their life can be just as severe as street drugs. Benzodiazepines and opiates are just as addictive, or even more so, as many of the drugs most people usually associate with drug abuse. When the time comes to stop using the prescription drugs the physical symptoms can be just as severe as other drugs that we usually associate more with withdrawal symptoms. If you are abusing prescription drugs a drug rehab is a very good option to do a drug detox and live a substance abuse free life.

Couples in Rehab
Sept. 15, 2009

When couples come to alcohol or drug rehabilitation together it is cause for some special considerations. If a centre does group therapy the couples have to be on some very strict rules. They can not for one, turn group therapy sessions into a blame game without affecting the whole group. Also the openness that is required to get the most out of a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program might be difficult if not impossible for some couples. When couples come to a substance abuse programme together there are generally two outcomes, their relationship will break down or they will come out of it much stronger then ever before. It is however something you will want to consider before going to rehab as a couple. Can your relationship with each other hold up to the intense scrutiny required in an effective rehabilitation programme? When people do drugs or drink alcohol excessively they sometimes do other things as well that they might not want their partner knowing about. If you are thinking about coming to a residential rehabilitation programme as a couple, think very hard if your relationship can survive it or if it might be better to go to separate centres or come back to back. Channah will accept couples at the same time on a case by case basis, however it isn’t always the best idea for everyone.

Substance Abuse
Sept. 12, 2009

The effects of substance abuse are well documented, it crosses all borders of gender, race, class, religion, etc. Once a person is in a cycle of substance abuse it is very difficult to escape. Drug abuse or alcohol abuse, it makes little difference, the behavioral issue is there for all to see. Some people manage to hide the effects better then others however eventually continued unchecked it can destroy a persons family, finances, career, and life in general. Many times the only way to deal with the problem is for the person to check themselves into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre. It can sometimes take many years for a person to finally come to the realization that they can not do it on their own, once they finally ask for help it is not the time to say “I told you so” it is the time to do everything you can to get them the help they need. When someone asks for help with substance abuse you might only have a short window of opportunity to get them into a rehabilitation centre. Act quickly at this point they are at a point in their lives where they are susceptible to change, it might not last long.

Intervention
Sept. 10, 2009

When the time comes for a drug or alcohol intervention you want to make sure it is done right. A professional drug and alcohol interventionist probably gives you the best chance of success at getting you’re loved on into a drug rehab or alcohol rehabilitation centre as soon as possible. An intervention is sometimes the last resort of a family after watching their son, husband, father, mother, daughter, wife, or some other family member or friend heading down the wrong road. Many times the family has asked the person to get help, or threatened them, etc. to only find the person pulls farther away and is less willing to listen to what you have to say. A successful intervention always comes from love and never malice. However the help of a professional greatly improves the chances of success. If you have been watching a family member drinking to much or doing drugs and you believe they need professional help now might be the time to call for help with an intervention.

Drug rehab
Sept. 8, 2009

When it comes time for someone to go to a drug rehab there are many questions one might have. There are so many options, philosophies, centres, treatment programmes, etc. How do you choose? Some items you should consider are does the philosophy of the drug rehab treatment programme fit your beliefs? For example you probably would not do well in an evangelistically Christian addiction treatment programme if you are an atheist. However if that is your background and beliefs it might be the best choice for you.

A woman who has been abused probably should not go to a programme where she will be told she is powerless, at this stage in her life she needs to take the power back, not give up more of it.

There are many other items like this to consider, when you start your research and are considering a drug rehab centre be sure to ask about the centre’s philosophy and approach to treatment and make sure it fits with your core beliefs. That said, if you have tried drug rehab a number of times at one approach and you keep slipping back, it might be time to shake it up a bit and try something new.

Once said to me by Simon Gunn. "If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got."

Non 12 step rehab
Sept. 6, 2009

There are many good reasons for attending a non 12 step rehab. We will only focus on a couple here. 12 step rehabs follow a specific plan that doesn’t work for everyone, this isn’t to say it isn’t effective for some people, it is just not for everyone. Some people need a more therapeutic approach that focuses on themselves and their responsibility to change their own behavior. Instead of concentrating on the drug and alcohol use as in a 12 step programme a CBT programme concentrates on what brought you to using drugs or alcohol in an unhealthy way in the first place, then teaching you better coping techniques to deal with the issues in your life. A CBT programme considers drug or alcohol abuse as a symptom of a behavioral problem and not the problem itself. “Nobody sets out to become a drug addict or an alcoholic, they use the drug or alcohol to cope with other issues in their lives that need addressing.”

In Channah’s drug rehab programme you will never be asked to call yourself a “drug addict” or an “alcoholic”. In fact from the moment you get here we will consider you a former drug addict or alcoholic and you are encouraged to look at yourself the same. A drug addict uses drugs, and alcoholic drinks, once you have stopped you are no longer an addict. We do not define ourselves by a portion of our lives, we were drug addicts and alcoholics, however we are also mothers, fathers, runners, tennis players, executives, bankers, lawyers, and so on, you choose how you define yourself, it doesn’t have to be as an alcoholic or a drug addict for the rest of your life. If I quit smoking cigarettes I do not call myself a smoker anymore, I am a non-smoker or an ex-smoker.

Many times once the underlying issues of drug or alcohol abuse are dealt with the need to use drugs or alcohol lessens and becomes manageable. When considering an alcohol rehab or drug rehabilitation programme consider all your options and be sure you are picking the right addiction treatment programme for you.

International Rehab
Sept. 2, 2009

There are many excellent drug and alcohol rehabs domestically but why limit your search there. With the ease of travel at affordable prices in our present age you can many times save a considerable amount of money for an equivalent programme or attend a superior luxury first class rehabilitation centre that would be beyond your means in your home country. With many drug rehab centres charging in excess of $40,000 in the USA or UK it becomes easily affordable to pay the additional airfare when you will be saving at least 2/3rds of that price by going overseas.

As with all programmes you need to do your own due diligence. However Channah is operated to international standards and staffed by native English speaking therapist whom have all earned their credentials in Western countries.  Clients come to Channah from all over the world, picked up at the airport and escorted to the centre.  Also at Channah you can be sure of your anonymity since if you are a high profile person in your home country it is very unlikely you will be recognized here. So when thinking about attending a drug or alcohol rehab, think of coming to Asia as a less expensive and more effective alternative.
